Euro-Peds Staff

Euro-Peds has the privilege of attracting dedicated, compassionate and exceptionally talented staff members who often become trusted advisors and supportive educators for children and their families long after discharge. Below is a list of current staff members. 




Michelle Saunders Haney, PT, MSPT, Director

Michelle is the Director of Euro-Peds and is also a Licensed Physical Therapist specializing in pediatrics. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Child Development and a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University. Prior to becoming the Director of the program, Michelle worked at Euro-Peds as a PT and the PT Manager. She has been with the Euro-Peds clinic since 2001. When asked why she chose the field of pediatric physical therapy, Michelle explained that her sister, who has severe mental & physical disabilities, was her inspiration. In her free time, she enjoys photography, traveling, camping, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.  Michelle and her husband, Dave, have one son and a daughter. 



Chris Kirkpatrick, Office Coordinator

Chris does a great job running the front office and making sure our schedule is organized.  She enjoys assisting families with their plans and preparations for coming to Euro-Peds as well as while they are here. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development from Western Michigan University. She is a proud Mom to son Jonathan who is currently a sophomore in college.  Chris enjoys gardening, traveling and spending time with her friends.          



Pam Montroy, Office Assistant

Pam is one of the first to greet you as you come into the Euro-Peds reception area with a genuine smile and desire to help. She has an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and has been a veteran healthcare worker within management, personnel supervision, scheduling, and sales, among other responsibilities. When she’s not helping patients at Euro-Peds she is running around helping her two children and spending time with her husband. She loves her job, the children, and the interaction with their parents. “I’ve always wanted to work in a hospital. I love to help, and I love to give.”



Melissa "Mel" McGinnis, PT, MPT

Mel is a licensed Physical Therapist who received her Masters in Physical Therapy from Oakland University and has additional training and experience using European-inspired tools such as Suit Therapy and the Universal Exercise Unit. She has worked as a treating therapist at Euro-Peds since 2004 and frequently speaks nationally as an educator and presenter about intensive physical therapy at various conferences and hospitals. Mel is respected and well-known for her ability and willingness to educate extensively about treatment methods and options for children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders.  Mel and her husband, Craig, have two daughters together. 



Heather Shah, PT

After an extensive search for a PT who would have the knowledge and passion it takes to be a part of the Euro-Peds therapy team, Heather was hired in July 2016.  Heather earned her Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Missouri- Columbia. She has over 14 years experience in pediatrics and is NDT certified and also a certified Kinesio Taping Practioner. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her son, husband, family and friends.



Carol Goubeaux, PT

With over 30 years combined experience working with children with “everything from brain tumors, to CP, to Muscular Dystrophy,” Carol has brought a wealth of knowledge to the Intensive Physical Therapy setting at Euro-Peds since 2005. Ten years of her experience was gained as a PT in Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, and fifteen years was from the New York state school system in Early Intervention and School-aged programs. She earned her degree from The University of Kentucky’s PT program. Describing what keeps her so committed to the challenging field of pediatric PT, she explains, “I just love to see the kids beaming with pride when they learn something new.” She and her husband have three grown children. When she’s not working, she enjoys sewing, reading and traveling.



Shelley Wolak, PTA

Shelley has been an invaluable member of the the Euro-Peds therapy team since 2005. She has a PTA degree from Macomb Community College, with additional training in Euro-Peds intensive PT methods. Her career choice was strongly influenced by growing up with a younger sister who has Cerebral Palsy. “After seeing all she’s been through, I wanted to help kids like her,” Shelley explained. Her clinical at Lamphere School District in pediatrics reinforced her decision to work with children.  Shelley is well-known for her patience, compassion and ability to motivate children of all levels to help them attain their full potentials. 



Amanda Wells, PTA

Having experience as a gymnastics coach and having been a nanny, Amanda was a natural fit when she joined the Euro-Peds team!  Amanda knew that pediatrics was her calling when she did a seven week clinical at the Detroit Institute for Children while pursuing her degree at Henry Ford Community College. She has a passion for helping people improve their physical well-being, and she brings such a positive attitude to Euro-Peds each day! Amanda and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.



Angela Raithel, PTA

Angela was a PTA student at Euro-Peds and fit in so well we had to keep her! She brightens any room with her warm personality and kindness. Angela enjoys spending time with her family and loves being involved in her childrens' sports and activities.           



Karla Wickerham, Aide Coordinator

Karla has been an invaluable member of the Euro-Peds staff since 2003.  She not only is a well-respected and valued member of the therapy team, she also supervises the aides while keeping the clinic well-organized and running smoothly at all times. She graduated from Mott Community College with an Associate’s Degree in general studies, and has pursued additional studies in Early Childhood Development at The University of Michigan. Prior to working at Euro-Peds, she taught preschool and substituted in the public school system. Karla also has worked in a daycare center and special education. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, scrapbooking, and being with her husband and two daughters.



Roberto Merucci, PT Aide

Roberto was hired after volunteering with Euro-Peds and we learned of his infectious enthusiasm for motivating the children to work their best.  "Since I started at Euro-Peds I have been nothing but influenced by these amazing children and it most certainly changed my life for the better," Roberto commented about his work at the clinic. He will graduate with a Health Sciences degree from Oakland University in 2014 and plans to get a doctorate in Physical Therapy specializing in pediatrics.  Until then, we are just as pleased as the parents to have him on staff at Euro-Peds!

Chelsea Stilwell, PT Aide

Chelsea is currently attending Oakland University and working towards a degree in health sciences with a goal to earn a doctorate in Physical Therapy specializing in pediatrics.  "I love working with children and seeing the smiles on their faces," she stated about her time spent working at Euro-Peds.  In her free time she loves to travel and read.

Megan Poe, PT Aide

Megan works as an aide at Euro-Peds but also lends her skills to the front office as well.  She says she loves cotreating with the patients but enjoys working in the front office too.  Megan enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their friends. 


Lindsay Collins, PT Aide

Lindsay joined our team in 2016 and has been a great addition. She is pursuing a degree as a PTA. Lindsay enjoys spending time with her friends. 



Bentley and Jack Zahn, Therapy Dog Volunteers

Sir Bentley Charles ("Bentley") is a 3-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and is Therapy Dog International (TDI) certified.  His human, Jack Zahn, brings Bentley every week to Euro-Peds to the delight of the patients and staff.  Bentley and Jack also volunteer at retirement homes and at the Independence Township Library where kids read to Bentley.  Jack is a retiree who devotes much of his time now to working with and raising therapy dogs, preferably the King Charles Spaniel variety.  Bentley has a sister who is also a therapy dog.
